Fiber Optic Video System
eal-time, full-motion dow nhole video services provided by DHV International utilize a fiber-optic telemetry system that all ows dis tortion-free transmission of clear, sharp video from downhole. The key to the system is the dedicated logging cable containing an optical fiber for transmitting video from the downhole camera to the surface equipment over long cable lengths. Continuous "live broadcast" quality video to depths of 14,000 feet viewed real-time in the logging truck are made possible by this fiber optic transmission system. The optic fiber also facilitates a small diameter 7/32 inch O.D. cable allowing easier entry into wells with high surface pressure. The cable design incorporates traditional double armor layers, a single electric copper conductor providing power to the camera and lamp and the encapsulated optical fiber. A fiber optic receiver at the surface converts the optical signal in the fiber back to an electrical signal and sends the signal to the monitors and recording equipment. Images are viewed and recorded realtime on standard VHS tape and individual images can be captured in JPEG format and emailed from the wellsite to the customer’s office. Measurements on images can also be performed for further analysis.

For "fiber jobs", DHVI will bring out their own logging truck with the fiber optic cable. Jobs can be done with a rig or without a rig. DHVI has their own mast trailers and grease injection pressure control equipment for logging producing or shut-in wells.
